Franmil Reyes Hitting Fifth In Cubs Debut Tuesday
2 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder/designated hitter Franmil Reyes is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth in his debut for the team on Tuesday against Washington Nationals right-hander Paolo Espino. Reyes was designated for assignment this week by the Cleveland Guardians after hitting just .213/.254/.350 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases in 263 at-bats in 2022. The rebuilding Cubs will take a flier on the 27-year-old Dominican slugger, who hit 30 home runs and drove in 85 in 115 games last season. Reyes will likely serve as the team's regular designated hitter the rest of the way, and a change of scenery to Wrigley Field could help him turn things around at the plate.
