Freddy Peralta Competing With Eric Lauer For Fifth Rotation Spot
5 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta is competing for the fifth rotation spot, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Peralta spent most of last season in the Brewers bullpen, but the team wants to give the young arm another opportunity in the starting rotation. Peralta reported to Brewers camp with a new pitch and a renewed sense of confidence following a disappointing 2019 season. He spent the winter in the Dominican Republic, resurrecting the slider he’d strayed from in recent seasons. If he can add another quality out pitch, he has the ability to put up elite strikeout numbers as a starter and is worth a look in deeper leagues if he lands a rotation spot for the Brewers in 2020.
