6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler is taking a “wait-and-see approach” at third base. Maikel Franco and Scott Kingery remain the leading candidates for the starting job, but Kapler reportedly wants to see more from the pair as opening day approaches. Franco remains the favorite despite slashing .200/.259/.360 with just one double, six RBI and one home run this spring. The 26-year-old returned to the lineup on Thursday after battling with the flu earlier in the week, going 2-for-5 in a 5-5 tie against the Yankees. Kingery, meanwhile, looked much more impressive slugging a two-run homer in the fourth inning, his first of the spring. Depending on who is named the starter, both remain late-round options in all formats.--Ryan Cook
