Gabriel Moreno Flirts With .400 At Double-A
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays catching prospect Gabriel Moreno put on another offensive show on Friday at the Double-A level. The 21-year-old catcher went 4-for-5 with a single, two doubles, and a home run. The outburst raised his average on the year to .398 through 23 games. Moreno has always had a feel for hitting but the power development has been a welcome sight. With five homers so far, he's on pace to easily surpass his career-high mark of 12 in 82 games set back in 2019. Overall, the Venezuela native's OPS sits at 1.119 which is all the more impressive when you consider he skipped over High-A ball. Along with the injured Alejandro Kirk, Moreno gives Toronto two impressive, young offensive catchers.
