Gardner Minshew II Takes First First-Team Reps In Training Camp
3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars Quarterback Gardner Minshew II was under center for the first first-team reps during seven-on-seven drills during the opening practice of training camp. Minshew, a third-year QB out of Washington State, is widely expected to be the backup quarterback to Trevor Lawrence, so this news is a bit surprising. The news isn't totally shocking, however, as head coach Urban Meyer's offseason rhetoric has hinted at making Lawrence earn the starting job. While it's not entirely out of the question that Minshew starts week one, it would be very surprising if Minshew isn't usurped on the depth chart by Lawrence as camp progresses. For fantasy purposes, Minshew still firmly projects as a backup and he should only be drafted in Superflex leagues.
