4 years agoMiami Marlins first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper (back) was placed on the injured list before Wednesday's game with a lumbar strain. In a corresponding move, the Marlins called up first baseman Lewin Diaz from Triple-A Jacksonville. Cooper got off to a rough start this season but was hitting much better lately, bringing his slash line up to .248/.326/.394 with five home runs and 22 RBI. The hope is that Cooper won't miss too much time and that he will be ready to rejoin the team close to when his 10 days are up. Diaz will fill in at first base when Jesus Aguilar gets a day off and should provide a left-handed bat off the bench for the Fish.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
