Garrett Hampson Reaches Four Times, Steals Three Bases
4 years agoColorado Rockies center fielder Garrett Hampson had a big day at the plate on Wednesday when he went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, three stolen bases, two walks, and an RBI in the 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Hampson started in centerfield and hit leadoff for Colorado as they got to D-Backs starter Madison Bumgarner early and often. Hampson wreaked havoc on the basepaths, stealing three bases and scoring three runs. He's now slashing .300/.400/.400 with five RBI and a 3:4 K/BB ratio over 20 at-bats. The strikeout-to-walk ratio is an important metric for Hampson, who's struggled with getting on base on the past. Most importantly, he's started 5-of-6 games to begin the season. If he can get consistent playing time then the sky is the limit with his power/speed combination.
