Garrett Mitchell Homers Twice, Gets Promoted

3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers prospect Garrett Mitchell went 4-for-6 with two home runs and six runs driven in on Sunday. The former first-round pick was promoted from High-A to Double-A after the game. Mitchell may have earned a bump up even sooner but he missed almost a month during the early part of 2021 while dealing with a leg injury. The 22-year-old outfielder leaves A-ball behind after producing a 202 wRC+ with five home runs, a .359 batting average, and a walk rate of 23% in 28 games. Mitchell also struck out at a rate of 25% and had a very low 12% line-drive rate with a 63% ground-ball rate — so those numbers bear watching as he moves up to face better competition.
