3 years agoWith Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Tanner Houck unvaccinated and unable to travel to Canada for the team's four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays this week, right-hander Garrett Whitlock is scheduled to start on Thursday for the series finale at Rogers Centre. Houck is set up to pitch Friday against the Baltimore Orioles on regular rest after coming out of the bullpen on Saturday. In his first career start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays, Whitlock struck out seven in four scoreless innings. The matchup in Toronto against the Jays is a tough one, but the 25-year-old has been outstanding in the first 13 2/3 innings of his 2022 season, allowing just one earned run on a homer while walking two and striking out 18 in five outings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
