4 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced on Friday morning that reliever Garrett Whitlock will make the team's Opening Day roster. Whitlock, who was acquired from the Yankees in the Rule 5 draft this offseason, has been the team's feel-good story of the spring. He has allowed just one run in nine innings, striking out 12 and walking none. With Matt Barnes and Adam Ottavino also pitching well, it's unlikely that Whitlock gets high-leverage innings right away, but he is definitely a player to keep an eye on.--Daniel Fox
