4 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in an 11-4 loss to the Nationals on Friday night. Sanchez has been in a tough stretch lately and has started losing playing time to fellow backstop Kyle Higashioka- though he swatted a much-needed homer off of Patrick Corbin. The slugging catcher gave the ball a ride as it traveled 420 feet into the left-center seats. Sanchez now has three homers on the season, but his .182 batting average looks eerily similar to last season's results. Still, Statcast believes he should have a .249 average based on his batted ball data- and he is still posting the best strikeout and walk rates of his career. Hopefully, the home run can get him going at the dish.--Tim Capurso
