4 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez finally hit his first home run of the season on Thursday, breaking a nine-game homerless streak to start the year. Sanchez has been mired in an extreme slump to start the 2020 season, taking a .074/.167/.111 slash line into Thursday’s game. With career-worsts in his z-swing (53.7%), contact (53.8%), and swinging-strike rates (19.1%), Sanchez has looked lost at the plate so far this year, but it’s a small sample size and the catcher’s plate approach and contact skills have been trending in the right directions over his past few games. Fantasy players should expect Sanchez to continue bouncing back over his next few games, and finish the season with an OPS above .800.--Sam Chinitz
