Geno Smith, Drew Lock QB Competition Continues
2 years agoSeattle Seahawks quarterbacks Geno Smith and Drew Lock have been competing to be under center in Week 1 ever since Lock was acquired from the Broncos earlier this offseason, and it appears the battle will continue. Head coach Pete Carroll said the team will take "all the time we need" to declare a starter. Smith was their backup last season, starting three games when Russell Wilson suffered a finger injury. The 31-year-old has been a starter on multiple teams but never really made much of an impact. The West Virginia product also started in both preseason games, finishing a combined 20-for-33 for 213 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Lock was slated to start in Week 2 against the Bears until he contracted COVID-19. The former Bronco is presumed to start the preseason finale against the Cowboys, barring any setbacks with his health. The final decision will likely come down to the wire. Although neither is an intriguing fantasy football option themselves, the winner will have a significant impact on the value of superstar receiving duo D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
