Geno Smith Could Still Earn Starting Gig In Seattle
3 years agoSeattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith could end up as the team's No. 1 option come the regular season. With the organization opting not to select a signal-caller during the NFL Draft or acquire Baker Mayfield, Smith may be battling Drew Lock throughout training camp for the starting job. Seattle is looking to fill a massive void at the position after it traded superstar Russell Wilson to Denver. However, head coach Pete Carroll has remained vocal regarding his excitement about those in the quarterback room, so dynasty managers should hang on to the 31-year-old a while longer, primarily since his value could rise if he finds his way atop the depth chart ahead of the 2022-23 campaign. Nonetheless, while Smith hasn't had the most successful NFL career since being selected by the Jets in 2013, he will likely have D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett at his disposal, which certainly may make things a lot easier.
