Geno Smith Still The No. 1 QB
2 years agoSeattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith will likely make another start in the second preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Thursday now that Drew Lock is out with COVID-19. Third-stringer Jacob Eason is also in line for some snaps after he didn't play in the preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before Lock tested positive for COVID, head coach Pete Carroll said Smith was still in the lead in the QB competition this summer. "Geno is still the No. 1 guy," Carroll said. "He's holding on to the spot at this point." Lock's positive test may make it difficult for him to gain ground on Smith for the starting job entering the regular season. At this point, Smith should be the favorite to start in Week 1, but he'll be nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.
