George Kittle Lands On Injured Reserve
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (calf) has been placed on injured reserve as of Saturday, knocking him out for at least the next three weeks. Kittle's status for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals had slowly dwindled down to doubtful, but the move now gives the two-time Pro Bowler a chance to heal without a week-to-week approach. Ross Dwelley stands to see elevated usage at the tight end spot in the 49ers' offense, but with rookie Trey Lance making his first NFL start in Week 5, how much San Francisco continues to focus on getting tight ends involved in the passing game remains to be seen. The injury does not sound season-ending, so Kittle can shift over to an IR slot in all relevant season-long formats for the time being.
