5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle signed a five-year $75 million contract with $40 million guaranteed. The $15 million per season average makes Kittle the highest-paid tight end in the league by a wide margin over Hunter Henry's $10.6 million franchise-tag deal. Kittle caught 85-plus passes and gained 1,000-plus yards each of the past two seasons in becoming arguably the best tight end in football. The 26-year-old was named a First-Team All-Pro last season and now will be locked-into Kyle Shanahan's offense in San Francisco that was fourth in the NFL in total offense last year. Kittle should be one of the top-two tight ends drafted in fantasy within the top-25 picks.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller

2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (groin) is not expected to play in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. He has been unable to practice this week and is expected to miss his second straight game due to a groin injury. "Hopefully, we'll have better luck this week," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said of Kittle. "Made a lot of progress." The 28-year-old hasn't officially been ruled out, but fantasy managers with Kittle should look for a streaming option in Week 2. Tyler Kroft and Ross Dwelley should continue to see an increase in snaps with Kittle sidelined, but neither tight end is a good fantasy option against the Seahawks.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller

2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (groin) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice for the second straight day this week. Kittle injured his groin last Monday and hasn't practiced or played since. The 28-year-old will almost certainly have to get back on the practice field on Friday in order to have any shot at making his 2022 regular season debut in Week 2 against the division-rival Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. With Kittle out in the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears, Tyler Kroft saw 55 percent of the offensive snaps but caught just one of his two targets for a nine-yard gain. Ross Dwelley played just 27.9 percent of the team's 68 snaps. If Kittle misses his second straight game, fantasy managers should look to avoid the TE situation in San Fran.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (groin) was sidelined in practice on Wednesday after missing Week 1 with a groin injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said "hopefully, we'll have better luck this week" in regards to Kittle's availability to play on Sunday. Fantasy managers should closely monitor practice reports on Thursday and Friday, as Kittle should have a shot to suit up if he becomes a limited or full participant. Still, it would be wise to have an alternative option prepared in case he is unable to play in Week 2's divisional showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.--Jorden Hill - RotoBaller

2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (groin) missed Sunday's game against the Bears. The team seemed optimistic that the 28-year-old would suit up, further evidenced by head coach Kyle Shanahan's comment about his availability, "that's why he made the trip." Although he did not play in Week 1, there is hope for a Week 2 return, beginning with practice on Wednesday. Shanahan again discussed his outlook, "I hope he's ready to go (practice) Wednesday, but we're not sure yet." The former All-Pro is a focal point of the 49ers' offense, contributing in all facets of the game. Fantasy managers are wise to have an alternative option for Kittle again in Week 2, with more information expected after practice on Wednesday.--Josh Constantinou - RotoBaller
