7 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Gerardo Parra (hand) underwent surgery to remove a broken hook of his hamate bone in his right hand Friday. He's expected to return to action around March 8-10. Parra should have time to get ready for Opening Day with that timetable, but if he suffers any setbacks, it could open the door for David Dahl or Raimel Tapia to start the season with an everyday outfield spot. Parra doesn't have much power (10 homers last year), but he did hit .308 with 71 RBI in 115 games, and he figures to play every day if he's healthy to begin the regular season. He makes for great outfield depth in mixed leagues and hits in the best hitting environment in baseball, but Dahl and Tapia represent significant threats to his playing time eventually.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
