4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez earned the win on Friday when he allowed four runs on eight hits with three walks and eight strikeouts over six innings in a 9-6 win over the Reds. Marquez did a decent job keeping the Cincinnati offense off the bases on Friday. He allowed a pair of runs in the third inning with an RBI single and groundout but settled in until the top of the seventh when Jonathan India got him for a two-run homer. He issued three free passes but also matched a season-high with eight strikeouts. It wasn't a great start but it was enough to earn the victory. The 26-year-old now owns a 5.56 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and 48:27 K/BB ratio over 45 1/3 innings. He'll carry those mediocre numbers into his next start, a home date vs. the Diamondbacks. Start him at your own risk.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
