German Marquez Lit Up By The Reds On Saturday
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez was destroyed on Saturday when he surrendered nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts in a 10-3 loss to the Reds. This was a rough outing for the 26-year-old righty, who allowed a season-high 12 hits and matched a season-worst with eight earned runs. Surprisingly he didn't give up a home run but the Reds had no issues moving station to station on Saturday. Marquez has registered four consecutive quality starts heading into the game, significantly lowering his ERA, so this blowup spot didn't crush his ratios. He now owns a 4.60 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 80:36 K/BB ratio over 76 1/3 innings (14 starts). He's got a date with the Brewers at home in his next turn. He's performed much better at Coors Field than he has on the road so that could be a sneaky bounce back spot for him.
