German Marquez Solid In Spring Debut On Sunday
4 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez looked good in his Cactus League debut on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. He allowed no runs while scattering three hits over three innings of work with one walk and one strikeout. The 26-year-old is coming off a solid 2020 season in which he went 4-6 with a 3.75 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 73:25 K/BB ratio over 81 2/3 innings. Marquez is the most reliable starting pitching option on the Rockies this season and should be a good source for innings and strikeouts. His value takes a hit pitching in Coors Field as he's historically performed much better on the road (3.51 ERA) than at home (5.10 ERA) over his career. He's a fine back-end starter in fantasy leagues if you can stomach the home/road splits but don't expect a lot of wins for the right-hander as the Rockies are widely projected to finish last in the NL West this season.
