German Marquez Struggles With Control In Wednesday's Loss
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez took the loss on Wednesday vs. the Giants when he surrendered four runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in a 7-3 defeat. All the damage against Marquez came in the second inning when he worked himself into a bases-loaded jam. He proceeded to walk in two straight runs before Brandon Belt poked a two-run RBI single to hang a four-spot in the frame. The 26-year-old only lasted four innings, firing 89 pitches, 54 of which were strikes. He now owns a 4.13 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 33:19 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings (six starts) this season. He didn't pitch well on Wednesday but he threw four straight quality starts prior to this outing. He gets the Giants again in a rematch at home in his next turn.
