German Marquez Takes Tough Luck Loss On Sunday
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez took the loss on Sunday when he allowed two runs (one earned) with three walks and six strikeouts in a 2-0 shutout loss to the Cardinals. This was quite the bounce back from the 26-year-old, who allowed eight earned runs over just 2/3 of an inning earlier this week in a start against San Francisco. He quieted the pesky St. Louis offense over his six innings of work but Adam Wainwright was just a little bit better on the other side. He still has a lot of improvement in his rate stats as he's currently posting a 5.49 ERA and 1.65 WHIP. He's facing the Reds at home in his next turn and should be left on the bench in that one.
