German Marquez Throws Complete Game In Win Over Mets
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez secured his first win of the season in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Mets in Game 2 of their doubleheader. He allowed just two runs on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts over seven innings of work. Jeff McNeil smacked a two-run double off him in the top of the fourth inning but those were the only runs the Mets would score. Marquez only needed 87 pitches to get through this one, which was by far his best outing of the year. He now owns a 3.57 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 20:13 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings (four starts). The walks have been an issue thus far but if he could cut down on those then he could return mid-rotation value this season. He'll get the Phillies at home in his next turn.
