3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole lasted just 3 1/3 innings pitched against the Mets in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday. Cole allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six batters in the Yankees 10-5 loss. Cole did not factor into the decision. Sunday's performance was the second straight rough outing for Cole who allowed five earned runs on a season-high eight hits against the Boston Red Sox on June 27. Overall, Cole has posted an impressive 2.91 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, and 135 strikeouts in 105 IP over 17 starts. That said, he has struggled of late to the tune of a 4.96 ERA, and a 1.21 WHIP over his last seven starts (40 1/3 IP). Fantasy managers will look to see if Cole can get back on track in his next scheduled start against his former team, the Houston Astros, on the road Saturday.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
