3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole authored a strong outing in Wednesday's victory over the Minnesota Twins. Cole pitched six innings, allowing a pair of runs on five hits with no walks. He struck out nine batters and generated only nine whiffs, though he painted the zone with 21 called strikes. Cole's spin rates were down ever-so-slightly, though not enough to warrant the media snafu that followed him leading up to the start. Fantasy managers have nothing to worry about moving forward when it comes to Cole's performance, as he should remain a top-tier starter whether or not the league cracks down on foreign substances. He is lined up to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in his next start. He held them to two runs and struck out eight in their first meeting.--Tim Capurso
