4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole pitched seven shutout innings in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Chicago White Sox. Cole allowed four hits and three walks while striking out seven batters. It wasn't his best outing in terms of bat-missing, though he still generated a strong 34 percent CSW- called strikes plus whiffs- as he was able to paint the zone thanks to 21 called strikes. The most important thing for Cole was keeping runs off the board after he allowed five in his last outing, and he did just that on Saturday. He'll take on the Detroit Tigers in his next scheduled start on May 28. Cole fanned 12 Tigers over six scoreless innings back on April 30 and could flirt with those numbers once again.--Tim Capurso
