6 years agoHouston Astros starter Gerrit Cole (9-2) will go for his 10th win Monday night when the team opens up a series with the A's. This will be the fourth time Cole has faced the A's already this season and is 2-0 with 27 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings pitched against them. He did get touched for two home runs and four earned runs in his last start against them on June 13 but Cole has been fairly solid pitching at home this season. In eight starts made at Minute Maid Park this season, Cole is 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP with 76 strikeouts in only 52 2/3 innings pitched. Cole will face A's expected starter Frankie Montas Monday night, a pitcher that the Astros hit well in his previous start against them.
