4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole allowed one hit and one run over five innings while striking out six in an intrasquad game on Tuesday. The only damage against Cole was a home run off the bat of Miguel Andujar, and the 29-year-old looked in midseason form as he cruised through five innings with 67 pitches. Cole is coming off of a season in which he narrowly missed winning the AL Cy Young award, and he’s likely to have another strong season this year after posting a 2.68 ERA and a 37% strikeout rate over the past two seasons.--Sam Chinitz
