4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole was named the American League Pitcher of the Month on Monday. Cole is sporting a 4-1 record with a 1.43 ERA in 37 2/3 innings and 62 strikeouts compared to just three walks. His 62 punchouts are the second-most by a Yankee pitcher in a calendar month since Ron Guidry's 64 in June of 1978- and his 14.8 strikeouts per nine innings in April is the highest mark in Yankees' franchise history. Cole seems poised to flirt with a 300-strikeout season along with stellar ratios over 200-plus innings in 2021. Enjoy the returns if you drafted him as the ace of your fantasy staff.--Tim Capurso
