5 years agoHouston Astros starter Gerrit Cole struck out 11 batters en route to eight shutout innings to pick up the win against the Royals on Friday. Cole (17-5) continues to have a career season as he approaches his impending free agency and has struck 10-plus batters in each of his last six starts. Cole now has 18 such starts of 10 or more strikeouts and is eight K's shy of 300 on the season. The veteran is holding opponents to a .188 batting average while posting a 0.91 WHIP. He is currently battling for the CY Young Award with teammate Justin Verlander with a few starts left in the season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
