4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole earned his sixth straight quality start in a no-decision on Thursday. Cole pitched seven innings of two-run ball against his former team, the Astros, allowing five hits while striking out four batters compared to no walks. The Yankees' ace didn't have his sharpest stuff- he missed just eight bats and surrendered two home runs, both of them to slugger Yordan Alvarez- but his less-than-stellar stuff was still more than good enough for a win. Cole will likely have better fortune in his next scheduled outing on May 12 against the Rays. He struck out 10 batters over 6 1/3 innings while allowing just a pair of runs in a loss to Tampa Bay in his first matchup with them.--Tim Capurso
