3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole struggled in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays. Cole pitched six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out six batters compared to zero walks. The ace right-hander has continued to struggle with the home run ball, as he has now allowed five long balls in his last three starts, including two on Wednesday night. The strikeout stuff has still been there for Cole, who has posted 43 punchouts in September, his third-highest total in any month. Cole owns a 16-8 record with a 3.23 ERA and 243 strikeouts in 181 1/3 innings pitched this season. He'll be available in the season's last game if needed, though it appears his regular season is over.--Tim Capurso
