3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole put together another dominant outing in Saturday's rain-shortened win over the Boston Red Sox. Cole went six innings, allowing one run on five hits while issuing a pair of walks. The Yankee ace fanned 11 batters and induced 16 whiffs, 13 of them on his fastball-slider combo. Cole allowed a run to cross the plate in the second inning but was on cruise control from that point on, appearing ready to come out for the seventh inning before the rain ended the contest. He struggled to a 4.65 ERA in June following the league's crackdown on sticky substances, but seems to have righted the ship, allowing one run over his last 15 innings pitched against a pair of top-five offenses with a 23:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in those two outings. Cole is lined up to take on the Red Sox once again in his next start and can be fully trusted as a fantasy ace once again moving forward.--Tim Capurso
