3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole turned in a dominating performance in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Houston Astros. Cole went the distance, pitching a complete-game shutout against his former employer, allowing just three hits and two walks. The Yankee ace struck out 12 batters and induced 13 swinging strikes. Cole's spin rates were once again down by the 100s, but it didn't affect his stuff in the slightest, as he kept the Astros' hitters guessing all night long. Cole spent a career-high 129 pitches in the start, putting a resounding end to his first half of baseball, which despite some ups and downs, was largely what fantasy managers invested in. Cole will take a 9-4 record, 2.68 ERA, and 147:22 strikeout-to-walk ratio into the All-Star break.--Tim Capurso
