Gerrit Cole Will Start On Opening Day
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole was confirmed as the team's Opening Day starter by manager Aaron Boone on Monday. The unquestioned ace in the Yankees rotation, it should come as no surprise that Cole will start for the team's first game of the 2021 season. Despite struggling to limit home runs last season, Cole finished the year with a 2.84 ERA and 26.7% K-BB. The Yankees are slated to open their season at home against the Blue Jays, one of the best projected offenses in baseball for 2021. That's not an ideal matchup for Cole, but fantasy managers should feel confident starting the 30-year-old regardless of opponent this season.
