Giancarlo Stanton Hoping To Return Thursday
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) said he's still a little sore, but he's played pain-free on a minor league rehab assignment the last couple of days and is hoping to be activated from the 10-day injured list on Thursday in order to play against the Oakland Athletics for the start of a four-game series. The 32-year-old slugger hasn't played for the Yankees since July 26 due to left Achilles tendinitis, but he began his rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Saturday. The Yanks could ease Stanton back into the lineup once he returns, but fantasy managers won't mind as long as his powerful bat is back in there. Estevan Florial, who has just one hit in 20 at-bats in seven games, could be in danger of being sent back to the minors when Stanton returns.
