Giancarlo Stanton Not In Game 1 Lineup
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Houston Astros on Thursday to kick off the second half of the 2022 season. Stanton will get a little extra rest after winning MVP honors in the American League's 3-2 win over the National League in Tuesday's All-Star game in Los Angeles. The 32-year-old veteran slugger made his fifth All-Star squad this year by hitting .237/.319/.516 with an .835 OPS, 24 home runs, 61 RBI and 40 runs scored in 76 games in the first half. Joey Gallo is starting in right field and batting ninth against Astros right-hander Cristian Javier in Game 1. Gallo is a boom-or-bust DFS play that has been mostly bust in 2022. He has 11 home runs but is also hitting just .164 with 98 strikeouts in 257 plate appearances.
