4 years agoOutfield prospect Luis Alexander Basabe has been acquired by the San Francisco Giants after he was designated for assignment by the White Sox last Friday. Basabe now joins the Giants at their alternate training site, and while it is unclear if he’ll be tabbed for his big league debut, San Francisco sees the switch-hitting outfielder added to their Top 30 prospects. After appearing in the Arizona Fall League in 2018, Basabe hit just .250/.331/.341 across two levels last year, capping out at Double-A. While there’s no reason for keepers league owners to flock to the waiver wire, he may be a name to keep an eye on should things go south for San Francisco this year.--Jesse Borek
