Giants Expect To Have Brandon Belt For Opening Day
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler said that he expects to have first baseman Brandon Belt (knee) on Opening Day "as of now." It's good news for a Giants team that will already be without third baseman Evan Longoria and outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. due to injuries to open the season. Belt has been dealing with inflammation in his knee in camp and has yet to make his Cactus League debut, but he's been taking part in full workouts. The 33-year-old dealt with knee issues last year and could get off to a slow start in 2022. While he did slash a nice .274/.378/.597 with a career-high 29 home runs and 59 RBI last year, Belt has had trouble staying healthy and has played in more than 112 games just once in the last four seasons.
