Giants Still Have Not Named Fifth Starter
7 years agoThe San Francisco Giants have yet to name their fifth starter for the 2018 season. The Giants won’t need a fifth starter until April 11 versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants could turn to their top pitching prospect Tyler Beede or other internal options such as Chris Heston or Albert Suarez. Regardless of who gets the role, the Giants are expecting Jeff Samardzija (pectoral) and Madison Bumgarner (hand) back sooner than later. Samardzija’s rehab has been going well and he may be able to join the club by the end of April. No matter who gets the job, it likely won’t be for long and Beede is the only intriguing name in the bunch and should be monitored as a potential pickup if he performs well.
