3 years agoThe San Francisco Giants have talked with the Chicago Cubs about a potential trade for third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant, sources told MLB.com's Jon Morosi on Tuesday. Per Morosi, the Cubs have expressed interest in the Giants' number 2 catching prospect Joey Bart. However, it sounds as though the Giants would want more than just Bryant for Bart, who is slashing .310/.372/.532 with nine home runs in 44 games for Triple-A Sacramento. Further, that Athletic's Andrew Baggarly reported that he Giants are backing off any trade proposal with the Cubs in which they insist on Bart. Bryant would provide pop and defensive versatility to the Giants, as he is slashing .269/.356/.500 with 18 HR and 51 RBI. However, he will be a free agent at the end of the season, whereas Bart is largely considered to be the Giants' catcher of the future. It remains to be seen if a trade will materialize, but it sounds like it would be a blockbuster if it were to happen.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
