4 years agoNew York Yankees third baseman Gio Urshela came up with a key hit off the bench in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Texas Rangers. Urshela didn't start the game but entered as a pinch-hitter for Mike Ford with runners on first and third in the seventh inning. He rapped a single into deep right field to break the 0-0 tie for his 23rd RBI of the season. The hit raised his monthly average to .306, as May continues to be his most productive month of the season so far. Urshela and the Yankees will return home for a six-game homestand against the White Sox and Blue Jays starting on Friday. He owns a .316 batting average at home compared to .253 on the road this season.--Tim Capurso
