Giovani Bernard Dealing With Ankle Injury
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Giovani Bernard (ankle) missed practice on Thursday with what is being described as a "mild high-ankle sprain." Head coach Bruce Arians doesn't seem overly concerned with the injury and expects the veteran to be back for their Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Although Bernard is expected to be back, he could see a limited role in the season opener. This would give a boost to running backs Ronald Jones II and Leonard Fournette against a weak Dallas defense. Fournette would certainly be in line for more passing-down work if Bernard is limited, and Jones would likely handle the majority of rushing attempts. Even if Bernard is active in Week 1, fantasy managers should look elsewhere to fill out their starting lineup.
