Giovani Bernard Suffers MCL and Hip Injuries In Week 14
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Giovani Bernard (knee, hip) suffered an MCL injury and a hip strain in Sunday's overtime win over the Buffalo Bills. Tom Pelissero reports that Bernard is expected to miss some time, so the Buccaneers will be without the pass-catching running back for what sounds like a couple of games. Leonard Fournette will continue to be the workhorse, with Ronald Jones II as the No. 2 option in the backfield. Fournette may offer even more upside in PPR formats as he is clearly the best pass-catching running back in the Tampa Bay backfield with Bernard on the shelf. But, his absence doesn't change much, as Fournette will still remain an RB1 for fantasy managers, while Jones has somewhat of an increased role. Still, Jones will remain nothing more than a handcuff to Fournette as he doesn't have much standalone value.
