3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals reliever Giovanny Gallegos blew his first save of the season during Monday's 5-2 loss to the New York Mets. Gallegos entered the ninth inning with a 2-0 lead but gave up four runs on four hits in 0.2 innings. The rough outing brought his ERA up to 6.43, and he now has five strikeouts and two walks over seven innings. The 30-year-old finished the 2021 season as the Cardinals closer, saving 13 games from August 7 onward and 14 overall. Manager Oliver Marmol didn't officially name him his closer for this season, but Gallegos is the only pitcher he's turned to in save situations. Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried that one bad game will mean fewer saves for the native of Mexico.--Spencer Seguin - RotoBaller
