Giovanny Gallegos, Dexter Fowler Return To Roster Monday

4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Giovanny Gallegos (groin) and outfielder Dexter Fowler were both activated off of the injured list prior to Monday’s contest against Kansas City. Gallegos’ return clouds the Cardinals bullpen scene, as he was serving as the club’s closer prior to being placed on the IL. With a 0.79 WHIP and 11.1 K/9, he’s likely the best option moving forward, although how quickly he reclaims the role remains to be seen. Fowler returns to an extremely crowded outfield picture, capping his season-long intrigue over the final week. But having delivered a career-best 124 OPS+ through 23 contests this year, he’ll have DFS appeal when he's in the starting nine.--Jesse Borek
