4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Giovanny Gallegos has been placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday’s contest versus the Reds due to a strained right groin. Gallegos left Thursday’s game early due to the ailment, which thereby opens the closer’s job to the remainder of the St. Louis bullpen. Andrew Miller is the likeliest candidate to reclaim the gig, replacing Gallegos, who has compiled a 3.97 ERA over his first 13 appearances in 2020. The injury won’t leave much time for Gallegos to return during the regular season, with the Cardinals’ bullpen now firmly in flux for the time being.--Jesse Borek
