6 years agoDetroit Tigers infielder Gordon Beckham is starting at shortstop and batting eighth on Wednesday, giving Jordy Mercer the day off. Beckham (.250/.353/.523) has out-performed Mercer (.206/.275/.317) to this point in the season, but Mercer continues to get the bulk of starts at short as Beckham moves around the infield for the occasional start. Although Mercer has been the better hitter historically, neither has ever been a consistently league-average hitter, and so both lack much fantasy relevance in standard leagues. Beckham can be faded in DFS batting eighth, especially as his strong start is unlikely to continue.--Nathaniel Green
