Grayson Rodriguez Diagnosed With Lat Strain
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said that an MRI exam on pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez (lat) showed a right lat strain. There is no timetable for his return, and the team will get a second opinion. With lat strains for pitchers, it usually requires at least a month of recovery, so Rodriguez will be out for an extended period of time. The 22-year-old No. 3 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, left his start early on Wednesday for Triple-A Norfolk with right lat discomfort. It's a shame, because Rodriguez was dominating Triple-A to the tune of a 2.09 ERA and 0.84 WHIP with 80 K's and 14 walks in 56 innings over 11 starts. He was on the cusp of a potential big-league call-up, but he'll now have to wait until later this summer.
